MFC Ethernet MIDI Question

I'm thinking of changing over to Cat 6 ethernet cable from 7 pin MIDI for my MFC due to the abundance of good ethernet cable and the difficulty finding 7 pin midi cable.

Couple questions:

1. If I go ethernet, will my AXE FX MIDI THRU port still work to send data / program changes to other MIDI devices?

2. What are you guys using - MIDI or ethernet? Any particular reasons?

Thanks!

Thanks Ole! That is an interesting solution. I didn't know those adapters existed. I found some very nice, flexible ethernet cables at a website called church audio gear. They're comparable in feel to a good XLR cable. I tried going ethernet prior but the quality of the cable I could find was no good. They wouldn't lay flat or wind correctly.

Does anyone know if the MIDI thru function on the Axe still works if I use the ethernet option? I have one piece of outboard gear that I activate via MIDI.

I'm going to test the rig today. I'll follow up.
