MFC-Edit with OS High Sierra Version10.13.3

1: Yes 8.0 is out.
2: Never heard about 9.0.4 is that some sort of beta? version 8 update 161 build 1.8.0_161-b1 is newest to my knowledge for Mac.
A couple of questions:
Q1: Is v8.0 of MFC-Edit out now?

Q2: Will MFC-Edit work with version 9.0.4 of Java?
My iMac has java 9.0.4. That's all it says in my system preferences.
On the Fractal store it says you need Java version 1.8 32-bit or 64-bit.

java 9.0.4 is supposed to come in two flavors - the OpenJDK 9.0.4 and the Oracle JDK 9.0.4. Neither can be downloaded from the Oracle web site. The last time we tested on OpenJDK MFC-Edit did not work correctly. I have not tested with Java 9.0.4 - it may well work but I'll not be supporting it until I'm confident that everything works correctly.

I launched MFC-Edit 8.0 with java 9.0.1 that I just downloaded. I clicked through a number of screens and it seems to work. Actually, it seems noticeably quicker than Java 8.x. I have not tested everything so I can't vouch for that but it looks like it will work. If not, you can always download and install an older Java version.

I just deleted Java 9.04 and installed Java 8 update 161. My Swarshala software now is not working at all with Java 8 update 161.
I'm going to buy MFC-Edit this weekend and want to make sure I have the right Java for it, but hopefully have a version of Java that works with Swarshala also.

It now shows that the newest version of Java for Mac is Java 10. I have not tried this yet.

Do you know if MFC-Edit will work with Java 10?

What is the best version of Java to work with MFC-Edit? Is it Java 8 update 161or something else?

I know nothing about Java at all. My new iMac didn't come with it.

java 8 - any version of Java 8 will work. 9 and/or 10 might work but I haven't tested them extensively. I might be able to test 9.x in the next couple of weeks, time permitting. If you need to install and run separate versions of Java for distinct applications that's possible too.

A very quick test of Java 10 on Mac OS X and LINUX seems to run MFC-Edit okay. It will probably work on Windows then.

Thank you so much. Now I know the Java I have installed right now will work with MFC-Edit.

I'll probably need to learn to install and run separate versions of Java to get SwarShala working again. At least I know that is possible now.

We'll I just bought and downloaded MFC-Edit and updated it to 8.0.

Now I'll just need to learn to use it. It looks like it is going to make it way easier to use with the Axe FXIII when I get that.
