Wish Metronome as Source for Compressor Side chain

Why would this be useful to have the metronome block be a selectable source for a compressor side chain?

Let's suppose you are a bass player playing straight 8th notes. You can use your tap tempo to set the bpm of the pulse to your drummer.

Then if the compressor is set correctly, the side chain makes room for the kick drum attack while you are still locked into the tempo and driving the song.

Clever idea but I would think you could use the sequencer to do the same and have even more flexibility in terms of timing and pattern ?

When you set a tempo with tap tempo - it matches the tempo, but it does not match the downbeats to your taps, so the timing will be offset.

I had this wish list item to sync tap tempo with downbeats, but it is not implemented.
