Purely for my own amusement and I know it's rediculous. Would it be possible to run 2 16 ohm 212 cabs and 2 412 cabs off a Mesa 290? I'm talking a 212 and a 412 on each side.
They are all 16 ohms but there is only 1 8ohm out per side. All four are 16 ohms?
If that is the case, yes, it will work. Plug the two cabs into the 8 ohm outputs on each side, as a pair of 16 ohm babs in parallel makes an 8 ohm load.
You'll need a couple Y cables or boxes capable of handling speaker-level voltages/currents, then, so you can hook both cabs on each side to the corresponding single 8 ohm output. They are all 16 ohms but there is only 1 8ohm out per side.
That's fucking awesome. Just thinking about how cool it would be to have that shit in my basement and the logistics of making it work. These days people just go direct. I want that big dumb rig I've always dreamed about. What's so crazy about this setup? At one time I had a W/D/W rig that was made up of 6 4x12's.
Sounds like the big brother of my '98 rack rig:What's so crazy about this setup? At one time I had a W/D/W rig that was made up of 6 4x12's.

Try the rotary some time....You haven't lived until you get lost in a Brian May dual delay in a loud W/D/W setup. Its mesmerizing.
