Max / Recommended IR length for my AXE FX II XL

What is the maximum IR length for AXE II.

200ms?
can you use 500ms? if yes, but Axe only uses 200ms of it, is there any downside using 500ms? will I be doing something wrong here?

Should I just use 200ms IR's?

UltraRes IRs are 8000 samples long max or about 167 ms. Anything longer than that will be cut off, which will mostly just be room reflections in the IR.

will this cut off introduce unwanted artifacts?
do you know what the AXE does to the end of the IR, like does it make a fade out etc. or doesn't the IRs "player" actually even to get a fade out.
Most IRs I own have a 500ms and a 200ms versions of them, so should I be better off using 200ms versions of the IRs?
 
I've never noticed any artifacts. It most likely does a tiny fade out instead of a hard chop to avoid them.

500 vs 200 likely depends on the IR. If the 200 is just a shortened copy of the 500, then there should be no difference as both will get trimmed to the same point when importing.
