Low cut freq in TONE amp page

just a quick question. I used to put a filter block cutting below 700hz for high-gain input (or a TS9 boost). I've studied the amp manual and it seems that the Low cut freq in the tone page of the amp block is roughly the same thing (i.e. cutting lows before preamp input). But I feel something is different between the two solutions. What works best for you?

Something would be very different considering those two different features/methods. The amp low cut would likely come after the tonestack I'd guess, or something else in the amp which would change how the amp sounds/reacts. Putting a low cut on the guitar before it hits the amp entirely would obviously not be the same then.
