Pickups: Saul made the covers, I believe Jayemar wound the coils. I suspect cerami and/or low wind, as I asked for a very fullrange pickup. Because the guitar has a 9V preamp from Richter Electronics. So the knobs are:
Volume, Pickup blend
Treble ±, Mid±, Mid frequency, Bass ±
Series/Parallel switches for the pickups.
It is indeed super-flexible. I will probably dial in the jazz tone a bit more, and I know it has quite a spanky Gretsch sound available as well.
Probably my favorite wierd custom thing that I asked for and Saul delivered superbly, is the neck -- 5 piece maple / Port Orford cedar. Port Orford cedars are dying out, so I feel a twinge of guilt about that. But the wood is very light and very stiff, although also quite soft.
