Lost preset, bizarre incident

I was flipping through my presets on the Axe III, somehow preset 5 copied itself to preset 6, overwriting the preset that was there. If I look in Axe Edit the old preset name is still there, but the copied preset loads.

I had a weird thing where loading in a new preset from Axe Change, I set it into empty slot 550 (or something) and it went into slot 1, and overwrote the 59 Bassguy, or whatever it was. I know I had it pointed to an empty slot, and haven't had trouble since, but something went goofy that one time. That was a good preset too.

Backups are your friend

Swapping presets in Preset Manager always goes wrong. The swapped preset is overwritten, but doesn't take the place of the other preset slot. Very annoying

Indeed they are. I've done one since then but at that point I was just diving in.

Well...the manual doesn’t talk about how to exorcise an AxeIII. Your best bet at this point is calling Constantine.
