Looper purchase advise please

Considering buying a dedicated looper . Im looking at the Boss RC300 and the Pigtronix infinity looper . Any input/advice/comments appreciated

I own a Boss RC300 and love it. I use to own a RC50 also and Sold it to upgrade. I vouch for the RC300! Awesome unit.

Does it preserve the tone well? Do you use it in the loop of the Axe ?

Only downside? It is not cheap!

One of my main considerations is how the units affect the tone. Why bother with a great unit like the Axe only to have the looper detract from it .

I had a boss RC-2 and i did notice a effect on my tone. I returned it and got the TC Electronic Ditto and was much better. Of course the Ditto is pretty plain and doesn't have all the cool features of the Boss but for me it wasn't a concern. And i did put it in the effect loop on the Axe.

I think I've owned every looper out there over time (aside from Ditto and Pigtronix), and the Boomerang is the best of the bunch, IMO.

The sound quality is excellent, it is stereo, and gives you up to four distinct loops. Of course if you need storage, you are out of luck.

Yes it is amazing. Very deep and complex with a lot of incredible features. Probably not as clear and transparent as modern gear can get.

This is a very good looper. It is mono, so you need two in order to get stereo. Even though it is a fairly dated product, the functionality it provides is rather extensive, especially if you are running the LoopIV rom.

A good resource is Loopers Delight. Their mailing list archives have a plethora of information, and the Echoplex was/is popular amongst their user base.

Forum member Finleysound has (or at least had) one. You might PM him and ask, but from talking with him I think he was pretty happy with and used it for a lot of stuff.

I have one but haven't used it for a few years. Mine has the Loop IV software which is awesome. Used to have 2 of them!

Another vote for Boomerang. Simple to use, powerful, does not alter your tone, stereo. Hard to beat unless a card reader is a must.
