Logic using 1 core of CPU

WTF, I have a core i7 macbook pro and logic freaks the f out with a few simple plugins
its directing everything to one core of 4

anyone know something i don't??

The program wasn't written to take advantage of multiple processors / multiple cores.

It should handle it fine, I use logic with much more complex set-ups than you've described and it handles it flawlessly.

What version of logic are you using? I used to have this problem but it was solved when I upgraded to either logic 9 or 9.1, cant remember which. It was a bit of a problem having 7 cores doing nothing...

Logic usually 32bit, because the 64 bit is absolutely unstable, wont recognize anything over 4gb of RAM, so the 16 is just pure blank space for whatever else is running. I have a similiar setup like you do. My system only starts to hang "it wont even stop playback" when I have HEAVY mastering plug ins and DSP effects all running at once. Having multiple FX guitar tracks means that there is multiple instances of that program running. plus SD2.0 has a memory limit and it will tell you how much its utilizing.
