Axe-Master
After having hoarded more than half million IRs, I have finally found "my" tone at this pack. I was initially disappointed when I opened it because it only contains 4 IRs, and they don't say anything, but that is perfect because it prevents Choice Overload. It is the tone for leads that I have been looking for since long time ago.
I hate IRs that are harsh and fizzy like a can of bees. These ones do not need a hi-cut, while they still keep presence and clarity at the high frequencies. You can drop many different amplifiers in front of them, and they all sound great
In the pre-FAS era I spent several years playing with just one single FRFR tone that I loved (after investing a lot of time and wasted money on gear before I nailed it). That was "my" tone. It was a combination of the JMP-1 and the Boss GX700. I changed FX, Gain and EQ for different flavors while keeping the core tone. But since I moved into the IR arena, I have constantly been changing the core tone, and digging my head into the IR rabbit hole. Until now.
You can get the idea of how they sound at Vinai's YouTube channel, though they sound better with the Axe-FX (he is using a Helix)
