Lesson learned

I thought I would share this experience with the hope of saving others the frustration I experienced today. This morning I had some time so I set out to make some cables for my MFC-101 and Mission pedals. I completed one cable and found a short between the ring and sleeve of one plug. Assuming I made a mistake I redid the connections only to find the same problem. As a long time amateur radio operator I have soldered my share of connectors so I incredulously unsoldered and resoldered the plug. When that failed I checked all of the connectors that I bought and found that all of them had a short between the ring and sleeve. Damn, what a waste of time. I have been warned countless times that "you get what you pay for" and in this instance it appears that I did. I bought these plugs at a local independent electronics store that I have been supporting for more than 40 years. I guess it is time to find an alternative source of parts for my projects.
