Learning how to approach guitar wirings and schematics

As the title says I'm looking for resources to learn how pickup wiring works.

I have basically no real skill in that regard besides having changed pickups on a guitar following a schematic (and REALLY hoping for the best).
I don't want to do that anymore... I would like to do conscious actions and know why I do this or that.

Thanks in advance guys.

I learned so much when I was still building pedals from places like http://beavisaudio.com. After that understanding how guitar wiring works is child's play. It's pretty straightforward. You have signal, you have ground, the more signal you shunt to ground via a potentiometer the softer your guitar volume gets. And the more signal you shunt to ground via a capacitor and a potentiometer, the more bassy your tone will get.

why not learn from THE MAN who pretty much started the diy pedal thang, trick guitar wiring etc.

get a multi meter and an audio probe... doesn't have to be anything fancy. start simple. craigs tone control mods are a good/fun place to cut your teeth. b4 you know it you'll have wired every guitar you have from scratch and spend $200 on parts to build a dimension c you could have bought for $150.
