Laptop in rack

I'd like to add my Macbook Pro to my rack to run Axe Edit III and to use a soft synth controlled with a Keith McMillen 12-step. Any suggestions on how to mount a laptop securely but also have it be removable? I'd like to avoid using Dual Lock because I'll occasionally need to take it out and use it for other things, but it needs to be secure as the rack travels vertically in my car.

gator make a rack case with a laptop compartment on top. they used to make a hard case, but don't seem to any more. they're all soft cases now

They also sell one space laptop rack drawer/shelf systems for this. However you need a pretty deep rack for them. And not cheap.

Just an idea for storing it in your rack is to make something to hold it in one of the lids if the rack is tall enough and cover is deep enough. An old zippered laptop bag you could fasten to it then just pull it out and set on top.

I think I've tried or built most things for access to the MacBook while gigging. I still bring it with me in a tool box but rarely us it over an iPad.

Built this sliding rack shel out of common draw slides and a piece if PVC board. strapped the laptop in with a wide velcro strap.
