King's X

Almost no harmonies is a deal breaker for me now. LOVE king's x... seen over 20+ times, different states, one of my top 5 bands. Not singing the harmonies is blasphemy IMHO.

Yeah... That is a cornerstone of their sound/style.

And you watch the video and Ty is just standing there, looking at Dug during the harmony parts looking bored... I don't understand it. It's not a one time thing either, been for the last few years or so.

There were a few songs that Ty and Jerry did sing after these tunes I just didn't record them. The sound in this venu was poorly run, evident from DuGs plea for monitors after Groove Machine. Even if they were singing you could barely hear them, their was almost no guitar in FOH either that was carried mostly from backline or monitors.

Even without some of the cool hormonie vocales it was still a cool gig not a ton of people either which didn't surprise me as I don't believe they had any local promotion unfortunately.

One of my fav bands. I've seen them play some amazing shows over the years. But unfortunately they just don't bring it live like the used to. No idea why. They seem very un-interested to be up there most of the time, and the lack of harmonies. Too bad, really.

Thanks for the post, I didn't know they were out again.
They're coming to Rhode Island so I'm going!

This venu was very intimate gig (Rock & Brews) there couldn't have been more than 100 people or so and that included the dinning tables. the people in the casino got a free treat though I think it ran off most of the really old people feeding the slots. It looked like really nice sound equipment but as I have posted already my only gripe was how sound was run or should I say not run :(.

Maybe you will get a better show. I could have gone and seen them again at the Whisky a gogo, just didn't have the desire to drive into into that gang bang (LA).

It was still a good show regardless, these guys have been slugging out for almost 40 years. Not everyone has a killer night at every gig! these guys are no exception.

As to why they don't bring it live I can only say that with DuG at 67, Jerry 61 Ty 56 health issues somewhat behind them, Ide say that maybe they are just getting tired of the road but there are doing just fine If you had been there you probably would say the same.

And very professional too. At NAMM this year they replicate the Jam Night like they do on Sunset Strip in a private room (500 people, not so private...) and Doug played bass with Living Colour singer and other guys. But, as soon as the singer didn’t catch the note and sang wrong words in a couple of songs he put the bass on the ground and said something like: “man you have to come back after you learned again how to play in a band!” And left the stage!

must be getting cranky in his old age... needs to get on Ty for not singing ;)

Even the if it was a informal gig he was serious on it and pretend the others had the same attitude. However it was a great night with George Lynch, Ritchie Kotzen, Billy Shean, and others. And also two nice girls that bring me back to the great 80s like in a Motley Crue video ;)
