kinda nice that the Axe helps you notice that your tubes are going

I hadn't thought of that advantage until my Engl started sounding really boxy compared to my Axe...new preamp tubes were needed :mrgreen

Kinda started sounding like the adult voices from old peanuts cartoons. wah, wah.....wah,wah,wah

Super cool!

I'm using my last NOS Westinghouse 12AX7A tubes in my Orange amp right now; I used to pick them for $5.95 at Electrosonic in Toronto and would get a couple every now and then since I felt that the days of really good, industrial tubes were starting to coming to an end (late 80's).

I'm going to be bummed when they finally go...dodgy tube quality and science-fiction prices for decent tubes were a big part of why I started looking at the AFX a few years ago.

Tubes are indeed tricky to pinpoint. I'm using JJ's in my preamp section, far from anything NOS and not looking back at this point. I am liking the Axe's lack of drift with regard to tone.
