JBL SRX 12" Monitor Opinions

PRX - NOT SRX! my bad :lol

I'm branching off from my other thread since I have narrowed down my search...

I may be buying a JBL PRX612m this weekend. It's a pretty good price, so I wanted your 1st hand experience with the PRX512, 612, or 712's. I understand they aren't the best, but I have to work within a budget.

What I'm looking for most is clarity, minimal frequency spikes throughout the range, and non-flubby bass (I usually play 6 string guitar, standard or Drop 1/2 step) so that it translates to PA speakers better than my current rig. Will the PRX deliver?

Edit: I've searched the forum already, I've read almost all of BBN's posts about the PRX's and his monitor 'shootouts'. Very informative. just looking for more opinions!

I had a PRX 712 for one year , lots of headroom ,very good for stage with good transparent sound , but very noisy cooling fan , could not use it in studio

Couldn't use it due to fan noise, or because it didn't sound good at lower volumes?

Fan noise , it sounded very good on low volume

Nevermind, gotta return it. Something is causing a high end crackling.
