Is there actual difference between Mesa Rectifier Models?

The Dual Rectifier line was a line of 4 amps which had switchable tube or diode rectification.

One of those amps was the SOLO amp, and it was just an Soldano SLO-100 preamp with a different power amp. And it became hugely popular. They abandoned the other Dual Rectifier models and eventually the SOLO model became the entire Dual Rectifier line. They added a single Recto at 50w and a triple recto at 150w (which doesn't make sense, since the triple still just has two rectifier modes... but anyway...)

Then they went through a series of revisions:
RevA-G 2 channel (All through the 90s, lots of experimentation, limited amounts of each version until RevG and lots or arguing over the best)
3 channel (2000s)
3 channel multiwatt Rectifier reborn (2010s)
Rectoverb / Tremoverb
Road King I/II
Roadster

They all have small tweaks and changes to the amp, but the same general tone as they're all the SLO based SOLO lineage. Most of those tweaks are hard to replicate exactly with the advanced parameters since they don't modify the circuit itself, but also most of those circuits were pretty similar.

The Recto 1 model is a RevF 2 channel according to Cliff, and the Recto 2 is a 3 channel from the 2000s. Although you can't make the small circuit changes to exactly replicate say the roadking preamp easily, you can still tweak enough to get in that ballpark if there's something you like more about the sound of one or the other.

Also for the roadking, the big feature it had was switchable power sections. You can change your output tube types and the transformer mismatch to replicate that.

There's also the FAS Modern which is a Recto with tighter Bass in a way that's impossible on a real amp, and the Thorendal models which are the older Fractal recto models kept around because Meshuggah liked them.

Great reply, very interesting. Thanks for taking the time.

There are numerous questions posted on the forum that a simple google search would answer.

If there are people on here happy willing and able to answer such questions, and there are, then where's the harm? If the question irritates, simply move on. And, it would add to the variety of answers pulled up by a google search. Everyone's a winner :)

No harm at, there are many, including myself, who do answer these questions. The point of what you quoted is that these questions happen so often that @yek chose a different, more clever way of linking a google search. Wonder how many actually watched the entire link to see that it displayed the search results, which did offer a lot of useful links to other forums and sites explaining the differences?

Well then I think he would have been better off just posting a link to a previous answer or search result, I'm sure the OP knows hot to google something.
