IRs vs. User Cabs - What's the difference?

If any? I've watched a lot of videos on the topic and they seem to be used interchangably. Does having 100 user cabs mean you have 100 unique IRs? Sorry for the nooby questions, but the guidance is appreciated.

yes..

There are factory cabs - NOT user modifiable, and User Cab slots - which can be EMPTY or loaded with a 3rd Party cabs (IR).

The # of slots for user cabs (IR's) varies by Axe model.

To expand a little on the above. An IR is a capture of a specific amp speaker cabinet with a mic in a specific location. There are factory cabs (IRs) built into the Axe and already assigned to amps and then there are a bunch of open slots where you can copy your own IRs (User Cabs) (from the various folks - free, Ownhammer, Redwirz, The Cab Factory, etc. You copy the IR into the slot, then edit an amp setting and select the cab you want to use.

Chris (at axefxtutorials) has a tutorial on how to easily sample your IRs as well. You can obtain thousands in very short order and while there is a wide variety of tones, there isn't always a huge difference between say 1a and 1b (but there probably is between 1a and 1d - which would be a mic placement difference of several inches).
