Input Levels not "kissing red" ?

Hello,
I mostly use my FM3 with an HSS Strat and a Les Paul copy. As you know, it is recommended to set the input level so that it is "kissing red." However, with neither of my guitars—on any pickup setting—am I able to reach that level. No pad option is active either.
What could be the reason for this? I’d appreciate your help.
Thank you!

"No pad option is active either."

What does this mean?

don't worry about, if you're set to 0db, and you're not 'kissing the red' that's fine

as an example i've set mine to 12db , for my high output pickup guitars, i have a tele with super low output pickups that i sometimes switch in, but i don't change that setting (which means i hit 3 green bars approx), i do however set a clean boost either on the input block or later on in the chain as i like an always on boost with those guitars, but that's entirely down to personal taste

i think there's nothing wrong if you're not hitting the yellow/red on the input

Thank you very much.

I've ran into this with the FM3, Kemper, and Quad Cortex when swapping guitars.

As long as it sounds good and you like it, don't worry about it.

I sometimes worry if mine is hitting the red too much with one of my guitars? But it sounds good, so I don't worry about it.
