input 2 / output 2

Im relativly new to my axe fx, and i wonder how i can check that everything works as it should. For instance,
when i play, i use the normal instrument -jack input, and this effects the "input 1" and i have "output 1" as some sort of master. But how does the input 2 / output 2 work? How come i cant in any way get the leds to indicate anything at all. Is this for the effects? I am really not totally solid about this unit yet, at least the actuall cable-work..

Input 2 can be used as a generic input if you place an effect loop block in you preset- The effect loop "opens" input 2
start a blank preset- in the second block over insert the effect loop block and shunt to the output (if I recall correctly, you cannot put the effect loop in the first block). Plug in an mp3, iphone, guitar- whatever to input 2 and you should be up and running.
