With a processor in there you have to worry about heat and air flow when putting a cover on it for performance.
I notice there are no navigation buttons. It doesn't mean much by itself, but it makes you wonder whether the matrix routing is there.

Looks like there is a button named NAV. Maybe it behaves like a joystick.
What about the Axe-Fx II? Won't the Ax8 take potential customers for it?

This exactly. Load my main presets and ready to go.And don't forget double customers. I don't have a need for two Axe-Fx's but I would definitely buy one of these floor models as a backup/home/grab-n-go unit where I don't need all the horsepower that I would for more demanding gigs.

I'll throw out a +1 to not liking the lower numbers being the second row.
I agree for most guitarists IMO .1234 are the main presets that are usually the most accessible usually bottom row
