Under one song use my expression pedal as a wah and if I switch to a different song, have the expression set up as a volume control.

So in other words can each song have a different control setting for the pedal?

As long as those two songs use a different preset or a different scene in the same preset: yes. The IA control is a function of the preset (and the scene to some degree), not the song.

Songs are just a way of organizing presets that might be scattered around the unit in to some logical order for a performance (a "set" to be specific).
