I use studio monitors all the time

I use these one
https://www.fluidaudio.com/products/fx8.html

I have always been happy with them, and I only play with them at home. I am really surprised not to see more reviews and/or people using them with their Axe FX II or other modeler
They sound great in my opinion, they are pretty cheap, very LOUD (80W each) for a bedroom player like me, and with coaxial speakers it doesn't really matter where I am standing in the room.
Perfect for playing with my axe FX II and backtracks.
I don't say I could play with a band (it is not the goal of such monitors, but they are loud enough for you not be able to stay into the room without ear protection !
(they are already very big, heavy, and they take a lot of place on a desk).
They are a fantastic compromise for people like me.

The essential is to be happy with our purchase for our needs.
This is my case , also everything is fine !

very LOUD (80W each)

According to specs, they have 130W (80+50), and aren’t very loud (102 dB peak SPL).

IINM, my Presonus Eris E8 speakers have 140W, 105 dB peak SPL, while smaller Dynaudio BM5 Mk3 have only 100W but 118 dB peak SPL - that’s like 20 times as much sound pressure than 102.

You can’t equate watts to loudness, the latter is determined much more by the sensitivity of the speakers than watts.

thanks for your comment.
I am personally not a specialist of loud and loudness.

For a guy like me with a normal family life, very loud is when your own wife is ready to call the police to organise some admission into a psychiatric clinic.
Intended that with 102 db you are already destroying your ears and those of your wife/kids, this is what I may call "very loud" ;)

Of course there is a lot of studio monitors and amplifier a lot louder.

other said, they are already plenty loud to have problems with your wife and/our neighbours if you live in an appartment.
I typically use them at -6db on the slider and output knob on my Axe FX at about 9 o'clock (preset at about 0db with the Axe FX II VU meter). It is totally loud enough for playing in a room.
Like listening a CD on an hifi device at a nice but reasonable volume.

Must be bloody nice handles!
No kidding.

Whenever I see "accurate" speakers with side-firing drivers, I get suspicious. As soon as you point speakers away from the listener, the sound becomes highly dependent on the room.

But those are woofers though - most monitors don’t even have them, so that’s maybe a moot point, IMO. :)

I like the looks of those! I have some ELAC home theater speakers that place the tweeter in the center of the woofer/mid and they sound fantastic for the money. Instead of coaxial I think they refer to the design as concentric.

The point of monitors being loud isn’t to shake walls or impress wives, but to properly work in all of the dynamic range and handle all peaks at relatively loud volume without distortion.

Also, those are peak numbers, continuous would be considerably lower.

So it’s probably good to have some loudness to spare over the maximum level you can expect to work with.

Anyway, my remark wasn’t meant to diss these monitors, just to say watts aren’t a very good measure of loudness.
