I need help on Mark Knopfler`s patch...

Maybe someone knows how to dial in Mark Knopfler `s
Local Hero (live version) patch.
I will be forever gratefull to you..
I don`t know where to start and I don`t know .. .how to get that sound.
It`s so important to me...

i to am trying to get somewhere close to this sound. Mr Knopfler seems to have a knack of getting sounds that I've never heard from anyone else. I'd say he's using a Les paul on this track with quite a bit of distortion for the lead and it also sounds like some kind of filter like a wha pedal set at fixed sweep. if you get close let me know. i spent weeks getting an acceptable tone for brothers in arms on a strat of alll things. so i guess i'll to keep tring for this one.
