I don't know why this pisses me off so much..

Yes, I can do that, no problem, people have different opinions that should be respected and debated like adults, am I sounding like Barack again? Peace, I apologise.

Racketeering?, Profiteering? wtf!

My thoughts exactly! These are absurd terms being used.

Morally wrong? :roll:lol

Go play your guitars! And to those tossing out these ridiculous rants you might want to invest in a dictionary at some point in time.

You don't know who I am and the the " relief" was a reaction to the 4th of July comment, which was as uncalled for as mine, but, I am in the minority here, so hey, you are right and I am wrong!

It's all good. No worries. I just thought the OP and you were quite over the top with the comments over a silly transaction that someone made a couple hundred dollars on. There is so much more to be concerned about these days other than some enterprising person making a couple bucks off a good hunch.

Again, no worries. Take care.

I'm with Jeremiahedward on this purely on what is the right thing to do, it's profiteering!! (a person who seeks or exacts exorbitant profits, especially through the sale of SCARCE or rationed goods.) the fact that the FX8 is not freely available makes it MORALLY wrong

Morals don't come into the equation. There is value to be determined by the purchaser in speed of delivery/availability, and the sale goes through once a willing participant decides the value is acceptable. This is an effects box, not cancer medications. Profiteering is the name of the game when fighting for expendable income.

The thing is, in this golden age of entitlement and impatience, obnoxious ignorants will pay more to have it now instead of waiting for thier invite.

Maybe buying this one and paying for next day air is gonna help him keep a fly date that keeps his lights on and kids fed. Too many possibilities to just assume it's some trust fund baby or a dentist that's gonna play for his dog in the garage with it. Hell, even in that case, I don't really know how you can assign a dollar value to how much you enjoy a piece of equipment anyway. It's apples and oranges, but if you have enough apples you can trade for oranges if the other guy is willing =D

No kidding. A couple hundred bucks for all that risk and then rolling the dice that it's not gonna get smashed in shipping? All while tying up over 1k in funds? I sure wouldn't do it...

I disagree. I know many guys that play for a living and none of them even care about new tech. They all want tried and true mid range stuff that is readily available and is not a big investment.

You'd be suprised how many chose line 6 over everything else just because of this because at the end of the day most music is not all about the guitar.

There's no harm in profit. The word shouldn't be used in a bad light. Profit is what feeds everyone. Without profit we are socialists.

I don't usually respond to these threads. I also hate to discuss politics as much as discussing religion. I believe each discussion can be very polarizing. But considering the Holiday I felt the need to support my beliefs.

When in Rome... I'm not in Rome. I'm in America. (Nothing against Rome, it's just a saying)
Carry on

You don't need to know someone who cares, you need to know that someone COULD potentially care and that they have the prerogative to spend their money how they like.

I didn't mean to open a can of worms here. I will refrain from posting my opinion on anything on this forum as any differing opinion is met with derision and ridicule. I have GIVEN my invite to someone waiting in line because I feel that is the way we, as musicians, should treat each other. Not as impulsive and desperate people who I could potentially profit off of. Sorry for not being like you guys.

No reason to feel shame because someone disagrees. More power to you for speaking your mind. Gotta thicken that skin a bit if you're actually upset. You giving your invite away is a decision of value just like the person who started the auction, you just chose to accept your value in a different unit than dollars, which is a sign of great wealth
