I bought some studio monitors and all I can say is wow

I bought my FM3 turbo a little over a year ago. I was playing it through my spark amp via line in which was the only FRFR type of setup I had available. I ended up damaging the line in on the spark amp preventing me from using this anymore. Basically my FM3 sat collecting dust for over a year. Since not using there have been multiple firmware upgrades which I have been upgrading but not actually playing.

I finally decided I was going to pickup some actual proper speakers, KRK rokit 5 G4. All I can say is, I was blown away. Previously I was a little worried I didn't like the sound of the unit but decided to put this thought in the back of my mind and ignore. But using the latest firmware, with the studio monitors, this thing sounds amazing. The issue is, I am not sure if it was the firmware upgrade or just the speaker upgrade or both. All I can say is I am very happy with the FM3 now and the sound is just amazing. I just wanted to share this info for anybody who may not be playing through an ideal setup.

here'sa. review. he includes a little peq room correction you can do, which will make them sound even better
Awesome. Right now I am just using the flat setting. I haven't even tried the app or built in EQ. Thank you for sharing this info.

After I ordered the speakers, I saw some reviews that stated these speakers were not that great. If this is not that great, I would love to hear great. I do really love these speakers though.

yeah, KRK Rokits aren't generally well regarded. i played through some at a friend's house and didn't like the treble on them. if you find yourself with some loose change at some point, i would consider upgrading. play through some genelecs or adams (i have the A7X)) and you'll figure out what's what. glad you're enjoying them though, you've made a big step up from your previous setup!

Were they the G4s?

Congratulations.
Sorry there are so many opinions on here.
I'm glad you're liking the sound.

Going from the spark amp line in to almost any studio monitor would be a massive upgrade. Having a proper pair of speakers for true stereo effects opens a new world of possibilities.

Totally true. Relative to what you are coming from. I remember starting out with some real basic M Audio cheapish 5" monitors then I actually had a pair of Gen 2 Rokits that for the time I really loved. fast forward to my CLR's that I actually use as studio monitors but if they ever crapped out I always thought I'd get a pair of Adams or something along those lines. In the early days it was using studio monitors that totally spoiled me for stereo setup. Its just magical when its true stereo separation on those delays etc.

I had the Rokit 6 monitors for years, my ears just got used to their faults and that made it easier for me to dial in on them. I have however just upgraded to the Adams A7Vs and they are noticeably better for me. So good in fact I sold my CLRs as well as they were too big for my room. Am very happy with the Adams, I am enjoying the detail they have. I do miss my CLRs a bit but I have a Fender FR12 to fill that gap nicely!

I have a very similar setup. Agreed the CLR's are just massive. Its a bit of an overbearing presence in a smaller space like I have but I love playing all my VST's /synths through them. When I play my Axe Fx I have my two FR12's set wide apart and its great

Yeah I totally get what you mean, and I miss the massive sound of the CLRs now that they are gone. Such good speakers!
