How to take the blanket off 800 models?

definitely a mids sound guy. not sure what FW the patch you provided is but sounds quite clippy on my end.

hmm....not clipping at all here. maybe we've stumbled into a problem with your setup somewhere?

for reference, i updated the patch slightly and used the cabs you suggested earlier. i lowered the level slightly and upped the mids a bit. i've recorded a few seconds of it so you can compare. if it's still clipping, then you'll need to figure out where and resolve that issue. if it sounds significantly different, then that may also be worth investigating. i'm using the latest firmware.

btw, if it's too gainy or loose, just reduce the amp gain a little bit. sounds great on 4...very explosive

that patch doesn't sound that great to me, to be honest. just messing about, i switched the 800 for the 800 mod with exactly the same settings (drive and bmt all on 6) and i chucked the 808 drive in front with gain on zero and level on 5. now that to me sounds badass.
