How to fix silent audio in Cab-Lab 4 'Software Live Mode' under Mac OS

Thanks again Matt and Mark for helping figure this out yesterday!

Still blown away by the support, even after 15 years.

I've been having a problem along these lines with Cab Lab 4 on FM9 fw v6 beta 1. I'm on a mac pro running OS 10.14.6.

I've been following Cooper Carter's tutorial for Cab Lab 4 and when I get to the part where I select SW Live Mode in the Audition section of CL4, I lose audio when I select step 3 (Disable Cab Processing in my Preset). I tried the fix listed above without any success so far. I'm using the FM9 as both in & out for monitoring purposes. When I click the test button I get the correct tone through the selected audio output device per the Audio MIDI settings. I've tried this with both FM9 and my Universal Audio audio interface. They both work correctly whenever I select them as the output device, but as soon as I select SW Live Mode I'm not getting any audio out of anything.

I've also tried manually disabling the Cab block from the front panel of the FM9. I'm still not getting any audio when I go to SW Live Mode. Prior to going to SW Live Mode I can hear that the Cab block is already off, but I'm not hearing the selected dynacab.

When I checked the privacy & security settings on my mac, it shows the microphone already has access in Cab Lab 4. I also tried giving Cab Lab 4 Full Disk Access - no change there either.

The other thread that discusses issues with using the SPDIF out didn't really offer anything that led to a fix in my situation. I did try connecting the FM9 audio out to my audio interface and selecting it (UA Apollo Twin) as both the in & out device. Rather than the FM9. I still lost audio when I selected SW Live Mode. When I tried HW Manual I could hear the preset with it's cab block muted, but when I'd click send to send my edits in order to hear them, it would behave as if it was trying to send something, but if it worked, I still couldn't hear it. Whatever audio is supposed to be coming back via Cab Lab 4 isn't making it out of either audio interface so far.

I'm not sure what I might be doing wrong at this point. I haven't filed a support ticket as yet. I was searching the forums first in hopes of finding a solution. I'm not sure what to try next aside from opening a support ticket. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I just tried installing Cab Lab 4 to my laptop, same results. SW Live mode doesn't seem to be working. Maybe something with the FM9 v6 beta? Support request made. Laptop is a MB Pro running OS 12.7.2.

I'm in the same situation. Running the FM9 Beta 6 and I can't get any audio connection with Cab-Lab 4 to audition anything. That's a bummer because I bought the 4 pack of Dyna-Cabs and I have no way to audition them until this is fixed, short of reverting to the version 5 firmware. I can only assume it would work on that version.

I'm really looking forward to this being resolved soon.

There's a fix in the works. It was mentioned in the firmware thread somewhere a couple days ago...

Yes, turns out this is a known fw 6 issue that's supposed to be fixed in the next FM9 firmware beta. I'd been in touch with support on this and that's the latest I heard from them.

I did roll back to fw5 and after resetting everything (you must re-load your previous v5 FM9 settings as well as your v5 presets) I was able to use Cab Lab 4, including the SW Live Mode just fine. I do like using the CL4 software, but do find it requires a fair amount of time and patience. I haven't made any "masterpiece" IR blends yet, but the CL4 software really is brilliant.

I did spring for all of the Dyna Cab Packs since they were on sale. Between those and my ridiculously huge non-DynaCab IR collection I should be good for a while.

Hi all - did you ever find a solution to this?

I’m on FW8.01. Tried all the suggestions above and still have no sound as soon as s/w live mode is enabled. I’ve reinstalled the software and FM9 driver, restarted the Mac (running 10.15.7) and FM9 - nothing seems to work.

I tried the plugin version using Logic as the DAW and the FM9 and input/output device. This seems to work just fine (ie playback is running through cab lab within logic and I can move the mic around etc.).

Any guidance on how to solve the issue with s/w monitoring directly on the FM9?

I solved my problems making sure cable was shorter than 15' and picked up a high end one with ferrite bead's on each end,

I’ll give that a go. I’m using the USB cable provided by G66 when I bought the unit.. but I’ll try a different cable or different USB port on the Mac and report back

if you have not already tried, you might consider remove the app and then reinstall latest version available.
