How Many Leftys Using Axe-Fx?

I'm a lefty but I play with my guitar strung right handed. In other words, high E on top. It's been a very interesting journey. You have to get creative at times. Love the AXE! :D

I'm a righty in a mostly lefty family, my uncles, my grandmother, my great-grandpaw.

Even my wife is a lefty!

But, for some reason I came out a righty.

I sometimes get discouraged looking for lefty guitars. Where are you guys finding you lefty guitars?

Here's a place about 5 hours away from where I live in Canada which seems to be a pretty good lefty specialist. I'm thinking about taking a trip down there during my holidays. Have any of you lefties ventured there? What did you think?

Playing lefty with high E on top - I can't get my brain around that one!

Do we have any lefty guitarists on the Axe's Endorsing artists page? If not, Cliff / Tom - you'll have to recruit one. Tony Iommi should be able to get a great tone out of the Axe for Sabbath material.

Who's left? (pun)

Jimi's gone, Kurt's gone...

I don't know of anymore BIG guys that are lefty.

I know of at least one that is lefty, but plays righty, and that's Billy Corgan. At least he claims to be a lefty.

Dick Dale is another famous one - there are many who are leftys but learned to play "right" (Joe Perry, Glen Campbell, Billy Corgan as mentioned above).

That's funny, I never noticed that Dick Dale was a lefty.

However, going by the OP's post, the leftys with righty guitars don't count.

If you count those guys then I'm in. I call myself a righty to not be difficult, but I'm ambidextrous. :p

But the point is that Lefty guitars are hard to find, and they never come in the good colors either.

In fact, now that I think about it, the only thing I could never do "Lefty" was guitar.

+1 - Leftys who play right don't count (just click the poll if your playing a lefty guitar).

+1 - Lefty guitars never come in good colours and they're always more expensive and many models are not even available left. In some cases, whole brands are not available left hand (PRS).

I guess a lot of left handed folks forced themselves to play right hand. For me it just feels spastic.

I am a lefty who plays lefty.

>I guess a lot of left handed folks forced themselves to play right hand. For me it just feels spastic.

Same here. Playing right handed was just not an option.

Steve Morse is a lefty who plays righty.

I'm a lefty who plays left-handed... and a bassist... so I'm in a major minority here!

I play custom Roscoe basses, so I can get pretty much any color I want. My main bass is a Fender-inspired vintage/translucent white on swamp ash. It was the first bass Roscoe ever made in that color, and it came out so great that they now offer it as a standard color.

Playing guitar lefty is the only thing I do left handed.

Should I vote?

Yessir!

You are a rare breed! Why do you think you migrated toward left-handed guitar?

I didn't migrate, It was just the way I picked guitar up for the first time and didn't realize I was picking it up as a lefty.

My brother had some friends that played guitar and he decided to learn, so he grabed an old classical guitar my father had and he stringed it as a lefty (must be something in the family because he isn't lefty aswell) he ended up giving up on guitar.

So then I picked it up as it was. I remember when I picked it up it only had one string left :D it was a low E, so I just had fun learning songs by myself. Funny thing is I was invited to join a band and play bass guitar by a friend :D

When I realized I was playing as lefty I made the mistake of not learning the other way. If I knew it would be harder to get the guitars I wanted I would have changed.

This is a thread I created 13 years ago lol!

Resurrecting and Renaming now to "Lefty Corner" for all yee leftys to post about all guitar things reversed:
  • Lefty purchase experiences...
  • Lefty guitar parts sourcing...
  • Lefty learning challenges (right hand fretboard diagrams give me a headache lol!)...
  • Lefty guitar pix...
  • Leftys playing righty / Righties playing lefty...
  • Lefty guiitar stories of any kind - all are welcome.
The poll is obviously quite old - feel free to vote anyway tho, on either option to be counted as a lefty (as u can see most leftys here were Axfx Standard owners back in the day!).

Do you know how hard it is to find a left handed vintage style telecaster bridge? Pretty damn hard, given how popular teles are.
damn! I was just about to keep the ball rolling on this thread with that exact question! I have a Squier tele that I want to upgrade the bridge on. Only found 2 options so far: this one (which is probably not better than the one on there), and this one which seems crazy expensive for the level of guitar that a Squier CV tele is.

Finding parts can be big problem for leftys.

I'm also looking for a nice lefty dark pearloid LP Jr pick guard if anyone sees one.
