How does the Axe-Fx III do as an audio interface?

I currently run my Axe FX III into a Apollo Twin via two XLR cables and then from the twin into my Mac.

I don't use any of the UA plugins....it is really just a high priced way to mix my computer audio with guitar from the Axe for jamming. I'd like to sell the Apollo and simplify things a bit if possible.

Questions:
1. Can I send audio from my Mac (Logic, Spotify, YouTube etc) through the Axe FX and into my monitors?
2. Can the Axe handle vocals via a mic or do you need a preamp?

Thanks!

the axe is an audio interface and can send audio from the computer to your monitors connected to the Axe.

the Axe3 does not have a mic preamp.

The Axe will do the work and sound is stellar but there are benefits to a dedicated audio interface and the Console app that UAD uses kicks butt. I run my XL via digital into an Apollo rack. I can mix my Axe and with virtual channels my incoming Logic and incoming computer easily on one screen. Additionally the powered UAD plugs are state of the art for recording regarding tracking and playback mix.
