Yes - how do you take care of your Axe-Fx in the best way possible?

I'm thinking cleaning, storing etc.

Here are some questions just from the top of my head:

How often should you clean your Axe-Fx?

Is it okay to vacuum the vents on the sides?

Can you dust it off with a slightly damp cloth?

What are the best conditions to store/play your Axe-Fx? (Humidity, temperature etc.)

What is best - rack case or no rack case?

Should you unplug your cables once in awhile or just leave them in?

I own the Axe FX II Mk I now 4 years. It's in a 2 hu SKB rackcase ever since. Never been dusted and I think it can handle high and low temperatures very well. It's always working great.

It's in a gator 2U studio2go rackbag, never cleaned it.
But when I play with it several hours of intense pleasure, I sometimes rub a red rose against its' contours, and after lowering the lights, I gently place it against my body in bed and hug it like it's the best thing that happened in my musical life.

Rack case will just protect from scratches and protect knobs in the event of a fall.
No need to worry about humidity or temp it's good in all likely scenarios except for rain!
Wipe down is fine. Vacuum outside of vents is fine.
No need to unplug cables but no issue with replugging ten times a day.
Relax & Play! :p

I would assume like with any other electronic devices, keeping it clean and dust free will lengthen the lifespan, as with all things in life.

I keep mine warm and clean. I teach it the gospel Rock and roll. I limit it's exposure to Internet pornography, disco, and rap. I have set up a college fund for it so it can take care of me in my old age.

Not surprising at all. It's the customer's responsibility to protect the unit from any kind of external damage.
Yep, I agree.. but in the event of lets say a computer thats considered electronics, it's covered against lightning damage under an extended warranty. Square Trade covers against things like this.

Depends on the agreement details. Damage and loss coverage is more insurance than warranty and you typically have to pay accordingly for such coverage. Factory warranties almost always cover product defects but rarely cover damage or loss. Fractal's additional coverage is an extension of the factory warranty with no extras.

I am using an FXII. I have had it for several years. I also still have an Ultra, which I keep in an SKB rolling rack. I keep the FX in a 3U rack bag (Gator) with a Line 6 G-90 wireless in the third space. I blow out the inputs and outputs with compressed air from time to time (no regular schedule just in my lucid moments). I occasionally wipe the front with a microfiber cloth.

I also unplug it during a lightening storm, as we do get some serious storms down here in Fort Worth. My FX is still working as well as it did right out of the box.

This should be added to the Wiki!

A friend once tried to recover damages against a policy that claimed to cover lightning strikes and was denied because there was no "physical evidence" (i.e. melting, charring, scorching). :\
