How do you go from bedroom patches to stage volume patches?

Hi guys,

Hope this isn't a stupid question, but do people here have two sets of patches for bedroom/recording volumes and stage volumes?

Or do they use the same patches and use global eq?

Also, what settings do you usually have to adjust when playing at different volumes?

I am finding that when I turn my patches up even to reasonable levels, from low levels, they sound a lot more harsh and scratchy.

cheers,

Two things to think about: we become progressively less sensitive to mid frequencies as the volume increases so your bedroom patches will have far too much hi and low boost (look up 'Fletcher-Munson' for detailed explanation) and you will probably have too much gain/distortion. Lowering gain and low/highs will help your tone greatly at gig volumes.

I audition all my performance patches at performance volumes before I gig them! If you can't do that at home, rehearsal halls are your friend. Goes for mixing the band, too, BTW.
