How do I detune using the Pitch effect?

Ok, ok, I give up. I've had my FX8 for about 3 years now and thought I'd really got to grips with it, but no. All I want to do is detune my guitar a semi-tone for one song, and a full tone for another. But as much as I have tried I cannot do it. I'm using the "Detune" type as I'm not interested in any dual harmonies, I just want to detune the guitar! Can somebody please help this total numpty by walking me through all the settings for Pages 1, 2 and Mix?

"Detune" only detunes it slightly - an effect and result known as Detune.

you want to set the Type to Fixed Shift, set Voice 2 Level to 0, set Voice 1 to -1 Semitones, and set Mix to 100%.

you want to shift the pitch an entire semitone, not a slight detune.
