Help With IRs

I've been mucking around with a friends Axe Fx Mark II,love it so have decided to grab a XL+,what's the story with irs,I've noticed that some are for sale some are free, what are the differences.
Which ones are the best replications of a real cab

They are all different. They aren't replications, more like recordings. Different cabs, different speakers, different mics and mic combinations, different positioning, different everything, hence different sound.

So there's really no such thing as an IR that's a best replication of a real cab.

You don't have to buy anything to use Axe FX, it has factory IRs provided in the box, some people use only those and find them quite sufficient. When and if you realize you need something different, you can explore additional options. By that time you'll know what to look for, so it'll be easier to find a cab pack.

Thanks for clearing that up

Just so you know.....no IRs replicate the sound of a real cab the way you are used to hearing it, in the room, off axis, right in front of you. They replicate the sound of a well mic'd up cab with a different mic (or mics), different speakers, in different positions, etc...........

The differences in these two very different sounds is disused quite a lot around here.
