Help with cabs

I tried the York Audio Friedman 412 and DXVB 112. Wow.
The way it's laid out is easy to navigate, and every shot is usable. The Blend mixes are excellent. Really smooth and hi-fi. The quality is instantly apparent.
Also have the trial version Mesa 212, equally solid. Excellent stuff.
Next up is the Vox and Matchless.

I go for a variety. Everything from SRV/Hendrix to Mayer and Bonamassa. Even metal some times, hard rock.

The Friedman 412 is great for metal/rock and clean. The DXVB also can do clean very well and some files are better for breakup to distortion. Depends what you're trying to achieve.

You get a variety of IRs, different mics and mic positions. Some better for clean, others better for dirt. But the IR by nature just enhances whatever amp and gain you throw at it.

I haven’t dared to ask so far, but now I’m asking my silly question !?
Concepts unfamiliar to me are flying.

"infrared infrared indicator
infrared infrared code
infra-red"

And much more!
Where can I find out more about IR Cab?
Because I'm just pushing for a change of Cabok.
But I don't know what I'm really doing.
I want to learn about this.
Thanks for the help.

You have the Axe III?
When you select the cab block, you have four slots from which to enable or blend up to four Impulse Responses. They are listed as a type (112, 115, 212, 412, etc), as a microphone selection, and usually a microphone placement position.

They're basically a snapshot of a speaker which emulates the behavior (sound) of that cab/speaker under any input, eg: amp/guitar.
