Help!how to update to latest 9.0 from old 5.02fw?

hi all,
My friend has a AxeXL+ with a old firmware 5.02 for quite awhile and hasn't been updated ever since.
He tried everything to update to latest 9.0 but failed...attempted via fractal bot but the current
version is too 'new' to his old firmware and it states that an old 1.2.7 version is
required to get it connect with ..
The current Axe-edit also failed to identity his hardware too when connected.
So anyone out there knows how to retrieve the old 1.2.7 version fractal bot?
Otherwise he will be stuck forever with the obsolete firmware.

Easy to forget about this amazing resource.....one can totally go to any FW ever made and loader up..though with the recent Quantum improvements....why?

You can also try a MIDI sysex utility, such as MIDI-OX or SYSEX LIBRARIAN.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago the site hasn't been updated since Feb this year. I don't know who started or maintains this site.
It sure has helped me out several times over the past few years.
