That's what the volume control on your guitar essentially does, and doesn't require a foot.

I live on the 800s and you can literally cover any type of music with how hard or soft you
attack the strings and the volume and control on your guitar. Makes life easy and playing
way more fun. For me.

Wouldnt a volume pedal in front of the amp carry out what youre describing? I dont think modifying amp input gain or input trim is the same as the guitar volume knob
