Harmony Central LOL

I posted a review of my Fractal Axe FX II on Harmony Central and they seem to have misread my review. LOL! Fractal does not make a Michael Atkins! Hah! That's my freaking name! I can't seem to change it so...

Yes HC used to be my go-to site, but not since they murdered it.
+1 here. I remember the day it happened. Logged onto my "go to site" and found some piece of crayon site instead. said to myself "WTF did they do to my site???" Needless to say, no longer waste my time there. Why??

Harmony Central is probably the worst musician's site on the internet. It used to actually be a good resource but now it's more like a mini 4chan whose posters happen to be guitar players (mostly). I'd be shocked if I went there right now and more than 10% of the Amp Forum content consisted of something other than played out "i can has" memes and random off-topic garbage threads like "I like motorcycles and oh yeah I just ordered some food but I'm not sure if it'll be any good, discuss."

Also, let me give you an example of the entire posting population's hilarious way they show their disapproval of amps they don't like. Mesa/Booger Rectumfrier. Get it? The height of wit, surely. Wow, I feel lame just typing that.

I also used to frequent Harmony Central before they went south... where do you guys get your music news now? With NAMM coming up it would be nice to have somewhere else to follow product announcements, etc.

so what are the best now? the only ones i know are sevenstring.org, gearslutz, and johnpetrucci... how do these rank/ anyothers?

Jemsite, Petrucci, Seven String, and the Andy Sneap forum at ultimate metal. There are good people at all of these. A lot of Axe Fx users as well. Just be careful cause you might end blowing every paycheck for the rest of your life after seeing all the amazing gear porn at these sites.

And seriously, "like" your favorite brands and bands on Facebook and you will never go without knowing what product they are selling.

musicradar.com

Nice tip there Scott. Don't know why I hadn't been before. Looks like it's run by people who put out Music Tech, Future Music etc., all very good magazines with mostly real info. I'm one of the people who used to check HC all the time (had it as my home page for a long time), but they made such a mess of it. Whoever thought that was a good website overhaul is probably working at a convenience store somewhere if there's any justice in the world. It would be interesting to know their website traffic stats before and after the overhaul. It had to be the #1 music site before and I can't imagine it near there now.

Bain Capital owns Guitar Center, Music & Arts Center, Musician's Friend, GuitarCenter.com, LMI, Giardinelli, Musician.com, Private Reserve Guitars, Woodwind and Brasswind and Harmony Central.

They bought HC a number of years ago as a conduit for MF.

Bain Capital doesn't exactly have its finger on the pulse of musicians and forums. I seriously doubt anyone at Bain Capital works at a convenience store though. LOL.
