Guitar Stands

For live use I got one of these.

https://www.thomann.de/nl/km_17604_roadie_transluzent.htm

I didn't want a system where my guitars would rest on their sides, but were suspended by their necks. Which is better for offset and/or pointy guitars.
just had a look at this bracket and this looks very interesting, the website doesn't give the dimensions of the footprint just the height, any chance you could tell me how much floor space this stand takes please.

cheers

Specifically: https://www.stringswing.com/slatwall-displays/

I also have https://www.stringswing.com/guitar-floor-rack-hardwood/ which is a lovely stand, but the slatwall has replaced it and its in a kid's room now holding their guitars.

Edit: I also hate the Hercules auto-grabbing system. I had a 2-guitar stand from them that lasted maybe 6 months of gigging before that grabber mechanism broke. Simple is better for gigging stands. I use http://www.ultimatesupport.com/gs-100.html now for an on-the-floor stand. Folds up tiny. Sturdy when deployed. And cheap enough that IDGAF when it fails and I have to get a new one.
I have the same thing, "almost". Mine is made for cases. Looks exactly like the same build washout the separators at the top. Cost $59.00.
Of course, I don't remember off hand where I got i-thru a google search I believe. Even the cuts of the wood on bottom are the same and it's foldable.

I bought one of those "fancy looking" guitar center floor stands, like it is similar to the first above but its much cheaper.....

basically it rests the back of the body against the front/bottom of the guitar face, so its using the guitars counterweight to hold it up

Ill admit, it was one of the cheaper models, not like the better one above, but after using it for my 8 string guitar, lets just say

all it took was one topple over (as the weight, though balanced, was simply too much), and it also speaks to the quality of the item

however, with all that said, I will only go now with either the :
1)standard old one with the neck holder with a looped/scooped bottom to hold the guitar or
2)spending hundreds/thousands on a wall mount or clear mounted like in Waynes world

however, since I am absoultely poor ATM, (no exaggeration) and with a daughter on the way in a few weeks, I am blessed and lucky enough to have my dream guitars and the cases to put them in, because my stands aren't worthy of $5k guitars lol

Literally, my prized, pride and glory, RG2228 fell directly to the side on the headstock - THANKFULLY - since its not a fancy guitar, and it uses 4 and 4 instead of inline like my other 8 string ESP custom, it fell on the tuner peg, so that was a lucky, and quickly learned lesson

Buy expensive for expensive guitars, buy cheap for cheap guitars, thats just my opinion

I did a three rail String Swing slat wall and it was $250 all in with the hangers. They make 5-guitar package with one rail that’s $125 iirc. Very affordable as these things go, really.

I would have done the package but I want hangers that kept the guitars tight to the wall as I have it all set up above a couch. Didn’t want to knock my head on guitars. But because it’s components you can easily add different hanger types in the future to improve density, etc.

Really think it’s a great system.

if you have a specific model or one that you recommend, I would certainly appreciate your advice - your one of the very few guitarists I will blindly listen to due to your wealth of knowledge and expertise - and I don't say that lightly - you and unix always have pearls of wisdom

I guess I'm odd man out. I've been gigging with the Hercules auto grip stands (3 separate stands) for at least 5 years without an issue. I wonder if I've been lucky or if they changed the design?

Well, that's a lot of pressure! :D

Their bundle is $119 if you're not picky about the colour: https://www.stringswing.com/rack-for-5-acoustic-or-electric-guitars/ -- and it'll hold 5 guitars.

Adding another 4 foot section is $40. And the hangers range in price from $12 for the front-facing, low profile ones. To $16 for the space saving ones or fully adjustable ones. They even have hangers for straps, other instruments, etc.

lol no worries dude, like I said, your advice has never yielded undesirable results - thanks for the links dude (btw, color doesn't matter and I needed it EXACTLY for 5 guitars, so odd and serendipitous , thanks)

+1 on String Swing quality. Their gear is top notch, always arrives quickly, and has the kind of variety to suit most needs and budgets. I have their individual hangers displaying a dozen guitars on the walls of my music room. Safe, secure, beautiful.

Id like to see it if you have any pics of that....that sounds impressive Rick

Just seems wrong to hang a guitar buy it's neck...seems cruel. :) It does look cool though, for displaying purposes.

In the process of finishing a room in the basement. I currently have two Hercules, 5 guitar stands and some single stands. Certainly will explore other options. I find if they are in the case, I don't play them, so it would be nice to properly and safely display them.

I've got a couple from here....https://zitherusa.com/collections/stands/products/the-original-z-stand-wooden-guitar-stand?variant=33248315727

Actually talked to the owner due to the felt not shipping on first order. Super nice guy. I think they even do these now for Taylor and others. Really nice - sturdy - worth the price.... I've got a Walnut and a Padauk -- real wood so need some oil TLC every once in a while.

Also - if you're looking for just a basic 'non Hercules' stand for home or stage, maybe try this one...
D&A Guitar Gear Starfish Passive Guitar Stand --- Sweetwater carries them (among others).
