Global block bug FW11.03

I made a new layout to use with different drive/amp/cab combinations.
I saved all these blocks linked to G1, drive, amp and cab included.
Then I imported the drive, amp and cab from another preset.
In these presets, the drive, amp and cab were not linked to any global block.
Saved to a new location with the appropriate amp name.
Drive, amp and cab were linked with G1.
So in all the other presets the drive, amp and cab block are replaced with the combination of the last one I saved.

So it seems that importing another block keeps the original block linked but only imports the settings.
The whole block doesn't get replaced by the imported block.

IIRC this has always been the case / no bug. The global block stays a global block, only its settings are replaced by the settings from the recalled block.

I couldn't find anything about this in the manual.
This should be explained more clearly.

So if I understand correctly:
Amp1 is linked to G1
I want to replace it with an amp1 block from preset #010 linked to G2
- first unlink current amp block amp1 linked to G1
- Import amp1 G2 from preset #010
- Link amp1 to G2

Your walkthrough is not correct.
Amp 1 G2 in the current preset is already the same as Amp 1 G2 in preset 10.

There is some funny business going on with the global blocks.
If you edit a preset with global blocks the following happens:
delete a block that is linked and add it back again later retains the link!

Your walkthrough is not correct.
Amp 1 G2 in the current preset is already the same as Amp 1 G2 in preset 10.
What you say isn't correct either.
When I import an amp block that's linked, the link isn't copied.

So where in my walkthrough did the first amp get linked to G2?

You wrote in post 3 that you want to replace Amp 1 linked to G1, with Amp 1 linked to G2.
But that's the same block, source and target.

No sorry for the confusion.
I meant in another preset.
Let's say in preset #009, I want to replace amp1 linked to G1 with amp1 from preset #010 that's linked to G2.
- first unlink amp1 in preset #009 from G1
- import amp1 from preset #010
- link amp1 in preset #009 tot G2

That's what I meant too, Geert. :)
Instead of going your route, you can just 'load' G2 in preset 9.
Because the global amp in preset 9 is exactly the same as in 10.

The 10 global slots per effect instance are shared by all presets.

I think I know what you mean.
Instead of importing the amp block, I just push bypass twice, opening the global link screen and link it to G2.

Nondedju.:mrgreen
I was so focused on the fact that when importing a block, you only import it's settings, I totally forgot about the "load from and link with global" feature.

hi, is it possible to use the globals blocks only on axe-fx without axe-edit 3.01? because the function wasn't implemented on axe-edit v3.01 actually.
