Getting heavy thumping rhythm tone with power amp + cabs?

The only way I've been able to do it is with the stereo enhancer on at around 20%. Otherwise, if I turn off cab emulation and power amp emulation, all heavy patches sound thin. I tried adding EQ, it doesn't help enough.

I'm running through a Nady XA-900 power amp and 2 Bogner 1x12's.

I'm thinking that if there's no way to make it sound great and thumping, then I'm going to get some FRFR's and sell the Bogners.

Thanks for any pointers you might have. Is it necessary to run Enhancer to get heavy sounds without FRFR's?

i never run the enhancer

but i do always keep the poweramp sims on
even when running through a tube poweramp and 4x12
it sounds too thin to me without it

use the low cut and thump functions
it is possible to dial in more bottom end thump then you'll ever need

Mono is usually better for punchy rhythms (just in case you do run stereo).

agreed

i went for a 2 amp rig thinking it would sound awesome and i ended up thinking 1 amp sounded better
