FX IA - is long press useable? advice on layouts?

Trying to design my FC12 layout (while waiting for the FC/AFX to get here.

Im considering 2 schemes. Both use 2 layouts - but in one of them some FX IAs (lesser used ones) are on long presses and Im concerned about correctly timing the change if/when I need them. The second has the lesser used FX IAs on a different layout meaning 2 button presses - but they are lesser used and timing would be better?

Oh - Ill also say that in the 12 years Ive been using Fractal gear - by FAR the most used switches are pre-set changes, X/Y changes (and channels in the new layout) delay and phaser. Reverb tends to be on pretty much constantly (and I may use the reverb switch to change its channel rather than being on/off because of that) and the other FX are used fairly lightly.

Not sure how easy this is to visualise - but the 2 options Im looking at:

OPTION ONE.

LAYOUT 1

short press:

Reverb : Delay 1 : Phaser : Drive 1 : Tremolo : Chorus
Amp Ch 1: Amp Ch 2 : Amp Ch 3 : Amp Ch 4 : Vol Boost : Tap tempo

Long Press:

Comp : Delay 2 : Flanger : Drive 2 : Rotary : change layout
.................................................................................................Tuner

LAYOUT 2

Short Press

Scene 1 : Scene 2 : Scene 3 : Scene 5 : Scene 5 : Bank up
Preset1 : Preset 2 : Preset 3 : Preset 4 : Preset 5 : Bank down

Long Press

...............................................................................................Change Layout

This option keeps the pre-set/scene changes in its own layout and all FX/Channel changes on another - but needs long presses to change some FX.

OPTION 2

LAYOUT 1:

Short Press:

Reverb : Delay 1 : Phaser : Drive 1 : Chorus : Change Layout
Amp Ch 1 : Amp Ch 2 : Amp Ch 3 : Amp Ch 4 : Vol Boost : Tap Tempo

Long Press:

Scene 1 : Scene 2 : Scene 3 : Scene 4 : Scene 5 : Bank Up
Preset 1 : Preset 2 : Preset 3 : Preset 4 : Preset 5 : Bank Down

LAYOUT 2:

Short press:

Comp : Delay 2 : Flanger : Drive 2 : Tremolo : Change Layout
......................................................................Rotary : Tuner

This option keeps all FX IA switches on short presses - but some requite 2 button presses (layout then switch).

I know this may well be a personal thing - but for those who use this king of layout - which would be the initial best way to try?

You can set up your FC so the hold functions trigger on switch release. That gives you timing as tight as you want.
