The APC 300 Joules is not much of a protection.

Furman doesn't list it in joules they use this line instead:
Spike Clamping Voltage: 375 VAC peak @ 3,000 Amps

So it's hard to compare but I have a feeling the Furman will come on top.

Any math wizards here?

no math wizard here but i use the furmans since about 20 years (not exactly sure but a very long time) and the never let me down - i use the pl-plus e and the newer pl-plus e series II models - the apc things are more for computers or similar i think - in my workingplace (graphics) we had a few apc units but can`t remember the type
