Fun with heavy-sounding pitch effects

Here's a little clip I recorded to demo a heavy-ish tone I've been working on. It uses a pitch block to add some extra growl but the mix of the effect is controlled by the pitch so as you play in the upper registers, the effect drops to almost zero. That helps avoid glitchy sounds when soloing. Still needs a little work and suggestions are welcome.

Is that a bass guitar in the clip, or just the effect? If it is a bass, I would be interested in hearing this effect in a clip where either it is by itself or the bass guitar was doing something different from the affected guitar.

Just the effect. The pitch block adds an octave down as well as a perfect fourth down.
