Front Input - From clean to lead

This has been discussed a lot and since it comes out that the front input has something "extra" (Auto-Z technology) I've started revising my presets with these potentials in mind.

Here is a short clip I made to show how:
  • Same preset
  • Same scene
  • Same Amp (USA Lead Bright)
  • Same drive (ACTIVE: T808)
Just using the volume knob on my guitar I can go from clean, to crunch, to lead.
This is AMAZING!

PS please 🙏 don't judge the playing, it's an improvisation I made to show the tones.

What is this "extra" that the front input allegedly has?

Why would FAS embed a boost or filter or EQ of any sort on all presets?

It's not really the Auto-Z. That just adjust the input impedance depending on your first block. This is great with fuzz pedals, but for most amps the input impedance is just 1 MOhm like it is for the rear input

As I wrote, the drive block is engaged. If I try the same with the back input I don’t get the same result.

They didn't "embed a boost or filter or EQ of any sort on all presets."

It's auto-impedance matching and is discussed in the Blocks guide on p. 6:
