From Leon Todds Cave: Boss CE-1, ADA MP-1 Chorus & Eventide micropitch

As the title implies, a huge shout out and thanks to Lean Todd (@2112 ) for supplying all the sound clips that made these possible. These are all matched to the original hardware, and I'm quite happy with how authentic they are.

BOSS CE-1 (preset)
Done in "stereo" mode, which is dry to the left and wet to the right. The heavy colouration of the wet signal is copied. Chorus intensity controls the speed, nothing else. The waveform for this mode is a triangle. Vibrato is actually a chorus, but it uses a sine waveform and the speed knob takes off from where the chorus left. Speed and depth are highly interactive. The rate tops out at 10.8 Hz.

ADA MP-1 CHORUS (preset)
Kind of a weird chorus. Most settings are way too fast and wobbly for anything other than a faux leslie. Also, the volume modulates with the sweep. The delay line gets quieter the further away it is from the dry (IOW at the far end of the sweep). So that's why rate and block level are tied to LFO1 and LFO2 respectively.

EVENTIDE MICROPITCH (block)
Done from an H3500, which is an H3000 with sampling capability. Same sound. Channel A is preset #231, B is #519. #231 is built on a simpler algorithm compared to #519, which is built on one that is a bit more complex and smoother. #231 is the one used by EVH, Lukather, Landau etc. #519 wasn't even available on the first 2 versions of the H3000, debuting in late 1989 with the H3000SE.

The H3000 preset #519 detune also makes a particularly lovely delay if you add 300-400ms to each voice's delay - Michael Thompson was particularly fond of doing this.

Neither or those CE1s sounds like the real one I have. I have tried, but can't replicate it. Close, but not exact.

If you're willing to shot some of my test files through it, I can see what the difference is. Pedals this old don't sound the same. Part tolerance, component drifts etc.

I’ve got a CE-1 headed to analog man to fix up the volume pot for guitar and also add a depth control to the chorus side. I’ll have to compare to the presets.

I've seen that thread and I don't like the format. Plus, a lot of my stuff is unit specific.

Forgive me for being ignorant, but how do I convert FAS Bundle to syx. files?

Axe Edit->preset menu->Import Preset->it then has you select a destination slot for the preset and a destination slot for the IR. In this case, Leon used the same IR in all four presets(LT TV MIX 7)so you can save them all to the same slot or if you have that cab already, save it in the slot you already chose for that particular cab. Once you've chosen destination slots for preset/IR hit 'Import' Done. Hopefully the screenshot helps.

Here in my part of the world (Denmark), all the craze with the CE1 is to run it in chorus mode but use only the affected output for a very cool vibey effect.
