Fractal Audio DRIVE models: Jam Ray (based on Vemuram Jan Ray)

I'm going to design a digital pedal with all the models in it, sell it for $199 and put all these crooks out of business.
You call it the “Boo Teak Drive” pedal (naturally you then put it in a teak wood case, with a hand woodburnt ghost graphics for ultimate boutique vibe and upcharging ability). The next part is crucial you then cover the board in black epoxy so no one can tell it’s digital (also everyone knows that gooped mystery circuits provide the most mojo). Lastly you write up some marketing hooey about how it’s “natural and transparent and amp like its it’s OD characteristics” and I guarantee you’d be the rockstar of the analog indie pedal world for a few months at least! ;)

I’m convinced that just the Shimmer Drive type alone would make everyone love the pedal and rave about how it’s a must have on any board.

I don’t know, Source Audio has their King Maker/LA Lady pedals which are digital drive pedals and darn good ones, and they have very few fans and you can get them used for $100 or less

It can do lots of different fuzz, OD etc, even has parallel processing so you can run one into the other, true stereo etc.

All and all and really cool and flexible pedal, super deep editing, great sound etc, and few seem to want it because it’s digital.

People seem okay with digital drives and mod in modelers, but seems like most people don’t want digital dirt on a pedal board

It’s like that cheap Mooer delay pedal that people thought sounded really good, and then they found out it wasn’t analog, and hated it lol.
Your right. People accept digital modelling solutions in "All In One" setups, but if they buy a single function device they prefer the one it is modeled after... it does make sense though...

Depends. If I can get the same sound as a $2000 Klon pedal for $100. There's no question.

Klon is the single most overrated piece of gear in the universe. :p:p:p

Couldn’t get rid of it fast enough. But with what the originals sell for now I wish I still had it. :(

Well, I’m not the biggest Drive pedal user so I’m not in tune with the disdain that pedal guys have for digital drives.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having a few around for a rainy day.

I agree. You can substitute any "boutique" pedal if you like.
No thanks. When it comes to amps, I’m a straight into the amp guy. I sold my only pedal, a Timmy, last week. But in the digital world, I’m all over the FX. Guess it’s a matter of context for me.

But back on topic, for a guy who doesn’t usually use drives the new FAS modeling sounds great. The drive update is the first time I have ever got tones I like using a drive block with a clean Fender for anything more than a boost. Great stuff!

This.

I have an LA Lady lying around somewhere....'cause.....well, I guess I can sell it now. ;) It is a damn good pedal.
