FM9 fan noise

just wondering how the fan noise of the FM9 compares with the Axe-FX III?

It's the quietest fractal I've ever owned regarding fan noise. Almost silent.

You'd hardly know it has a fan at all. It is very quiet. The Axe-FX III's fan is substantially louder.

The FX3 requires forced air cooling because the chips run hot, so the fan is always on. The FM9 only turns the fan on when it starts, then it turns off. I don't think I've ever heard mine come on but I suppose it would if I was using it outside or in a very hot room.

It's probably running full blast at boot up, then spinning down to a lower, mostly inaudible rpm.

Yeah, boot spins it up until whatever fan speed controller is in there wakes up and throttles it back. I never hear it after boot. Natural convection seems to "git 'er done" at 69°F - 72°F, or it is just barely turning and below the threshold of audibility....

Yes I'm happy with the fan so far. First fractal product I've owned without an obnoxiously loud fan. I've replaced the others with silen-x fans and they're MUCH better, but I really don't want to open this one up just yet.

Yup. Only noise is during boot-up. After that, should run quiet. Only other time I think you might hear noise from the fan is if the unit might be kept on for quite some time (e.g. to cool a warm unit.)

If I didn't know there was a fan, I'd never suspect there was one. You can hear it when it boots, but you'd be hard-pressed ever to notice it in use.
