FM3 Firmware Version 9.01

Basic question.. I know about re saving all the presets under the new firmware but was wondering, after doing the 9.01 update, are you guys reinstalling your presets again from a back up, or is it unnecessary?

There's no requirement to re-save presets mentioned in the release notes. So what is it that you "know"? Did I miss something?

Edit:

I did miss the "re-save" bit. Thought it was previous firmware version

The display showing presets not saved under new firmware etc covered earlier in this thread,

But that wasn't my question, I was asking if people are re loading backed up presets after doing the firmware update

Ah, I forgot about that part.

Why would people reload backed up presets?

What would be the reasoning?

If it's to address the "need to be re-saved" bit, no that will not work.

See this post for a way to do it:

Actually, it will work. The post you linked to below points to instructions on how to reload backed up presets after a firmware update.
I thought that was exporting current presets and then importing and saving?

Maybe I misremembered...

In either case, it's only necessary to do this if the release notes call for it.
Exactly what I said in my previous post... But they kind of hint at it in this case regarding the highlighted preset names in zoom mode ;)

Interesting note - since the FM3 has the "update all presets" feature in the utilities, I went ahead and ran that. For some reason, occasionally I load a preset and it still has the inverse color on the display until I save it again. Most seem to have updated as expected. Not a big deal, just weird.

The only reason I was thinking of re loading backed up presets was if the firmware may have changed any parameter settings. As you say, it should be unnecessary, it's just a spill over habit from my helix days where we always had to re load them.

What I have noticed though is after this update, some of my amp parameters have the little circle under them to denote modifiers. I don't use any modifiers and none of my presets had those settings connected to any modifiers so I wonder why that has appeared now after this latest update?

Just a circle? Not filled in? Those have been around for years. That just means that a parameter can connect to a modifier. The circle gets filled in when you actually connect a modifier.

If the circles are already filled in, what modifiers are they connected to?

Firmware updates don't change your preset settings, except some rare cases where a setting will be updated on preset load.

And in those cases, it would do the same thing to your restored preset as soon as you load it.

Honestly my FM3 sounds so good with FW8 that I don't want to mess with it. ;)
Contemplating on upgrading too from fw8 but postponed it due to the freezing issues, gapless is gone, misaligned text in the mini displays, expression pedals not working as expected. Also, I don't want to upgrade my all presets again and change my sounds. People are imagining the cold boot time is faster, it's not. Loading presets is generally faster on the new firmware so people think booting time is also faster but it just loads the first preset faster.
FW8 is still solid with the gapless feature, no reason to hurry installing the new firmware.

Where have you seen gapless is not working?

I don't recall seeing that.

1) the main firmware, and 2) a separate Dyna-Cab file. To install both files using automatic download, please use the version of Fractal-Bot that is built into the latest release of FM3-Edit.

Does this mean that it's an all-in-one install if using the latest Fractal-Bot version or do we still have to install the new Dyna Cabs separately? I am coming from FW8.0 thanks.

The DC install is separate. You'll have two files to install, one for the FW and one for DC.
